I have a special interest in ASD (including people with a diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome) particularly as it affects women and girls. I understand that a girl or woman with ASD can feel unacknowledged and misunderstood. She will often be skilled at concealing, or ‘masking’ the most serious of her difficulties and can find herself without support and struggling to manage.
I have studied the many subtle and hidden aspects of this condition and the way in which autistic people face these challenges every hour of every day. I am able to support autistic people in managing their struggles with their complex emotional lives which can include severe anxiety, difficulties with social situations, sensory issues, executive dysfunction and self-stimulating behaviours (or ‘stimming’).
