Since 2000, I have worked in the public sector and in private practice with people from a variety of backgrounds; men and women of different ethnicities and religions, people from the LGBTQIA+ community and individuals with both mental and physical disabilities. Understanding my client’s social context is of central importance in my practice, but it is important not to stereotype; I learn from my clients about the groups and communities they are part of so that I can understand their personal perspective with regard to the historical, political and social context of their lives and experiences.
I have worked extensively with clients experiencing:
- Anxiety and depression
- Low self-esteem
- Bereavement and loss
- Relationship issues
- Addiction and compulsive behaviours
- Self-harm
- Suicidal thoughts
- Panic disorder
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Childhood abuse (emotional, physical and sexual)
- Eating disorders
- Trauma
- Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD/Asperger’s)
- Workplace conflict and work-related stress
- Bullying
- Anger management
- Personality disorders
- Sexuality
- Infertility
- Parenting issues
